TOP HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Greg Sharpe, Founder and Lead Instructor

Greg’s passion is scoring goals and he believes that’s the best way for players to stand out from their peers. From the technical to the tactical, he teaches the art of goal scoring with a methodical approach. Greg’s eye for detail and depth of knowledge are the foundation for TOP HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT.

He has been training elite hockey players for over a decade and has been fortunate to work with dozens of current OHL and NCAA D1 players. Greg has been a Head Coach at the AAA level with the Ottawa Jr 67s, Myers, and Renfrew Wolves. In his two seasons behind the bench with Renfrew, 11 of his players were selected in the OHL draft.

Greg is currently the Program Director for the Ottawa Jr 67s AAA club and the Skills Coach for the Nepean Raiders Jr A club.

Peter Breithaupt, Lead Instructor

Peter loves to solve problems. His research into how NHL players create time and space spurred the development of the Small Area Tactics program. He uses a possession-focused approach to teach habits grounded in eliminating opposition opportunities and transitioning to high-quality scoring areas.

Peter has been coaching hockey for nine years and has been both a Head Coach and Associate Coach at the AAA level. He is a sessional professor at Algonquin college, teaching in the Fitness and Health Promotion program. He has a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology, Master of Education and is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Registered Kinesiologist and High-Performance Specialist.

Alexandre Ferraton, Lead Skating Instructor

Alexandre understands the difference between skill performance and skill acquisition. Most players can perform a skill in practice but adding a new component to your game requires context, understanding and the ability to recall it on demand. He designed our skating program to promote skill retention so that players can deploy their tools in game situations to manipulate and deceive opponents.

He is a Certified Hockey Canada Skills coach and Certified High Performance 1 coach. Alexandre joined the University of Ottawa Gee Gees in 2021 as a Skating Development Coach and has since been promoted to his current role of Assistant Coach. He has worked with players at the OHL, QMJHL, AHL and NHL levels and has presented at coaching conferences internationally.

Alexandre is an Assistant Coach with both the University of Ottawa Gee Gees and the Rockland Nationals Jr A club.
